Vision 

The San Antonio Association for Organizational Development (SAAOD) will be central in creating a vibrant, inclusive community of OD professionals.

Mission

SAAOD is dedicated to being a leader in the advancement of the theory and practice of organization development by: 

  • Helping to define and communicate the values, purposes and benefits of organization development
  • Promoting the effective and ethical use of organization development principles, tools and best practices
  • Supporting practitioners through enhanced learning and professional development opportunities
  • Providing a values-based home for San Antonio area OD practitioners, researchers and educators to exchange ideas and create dialogue on critical issues
  • Sharing leadership and partnering with others to achieve our mission

History

SAAOD was founded in the Spring of 1998 by 8 individuals in San Antonio practicing Organizational Develoment. This informal group has ebbed and flowed through the years, but the essential spirit of openness, sharing, teaching and learning has enabled all of us to have richer and more rewarding lives. Though the name has changed, the four organizing purposes of the group haven’t changed:

  1. To meet and socialize with others who make their living as OD practitioners (or are otherwise interested in ANY aspect the field of Organizational Development)
  2. To learn from each other (what works, what doesn't, what's new, etc.)
  3. To understand what the local professional OD talent pool holds, in case any of us have an opportunity to do work that needs more hands (minds) than we have in our firms or our places of employment. 
  4. To give something back to the profession by encouraging and modeling the values, knowledge and philosophy of OD to the next generation of practitioners of our profession
